Overview
In this role you will contribute to planning, design, and operation of safe, efficient transportation systems. You'll work within our collaborative Traffic Engineering team to analyze data, develop signal timing plans, and support road and intersection improvements using modern design tools. You'll engage with multidisciplinary teams and apply industry standards to deliver mobility, safety, and sustainability outcomes for communities. - Apply engineering fundamentals to support project design teams
- Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects
- Create drawings from sketches
- Ensure designs meet company and client production/design standards
- Perform engineering calculations and create estimates
- Research and apply code provisions to design
- Perform QA/QC on design methodologies and calculations
- Prepare or review scopes of work, budgets, and schedule assignments
- Prepare proposals for professional services
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 5+ years of traffic design experience (highly preferred)
- PE license required; PTOE a plus
- MDOT experience preferred
- Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of Synchro, VISSIM, Open Roads, HSM, and HCS
- Mentoring junior staff a plus
