
Henn Lesperance PLC, a boutique civil litigation defense firm in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a HR & Operations Manager. The HR & Operations Manager supports the COO and is responsible for the overall administrative management of the office overseeing human resources, facility operations, and general administrative matters. This is a full-time, onsite position.
Compensation: $60,000-$80,000 annually, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resource Management
· Responsible for recruitment and selection of professional staff.
· Responsible for the orientation, training, and development of professional staff.
· Provides support and assistance related to attorney recruitment, including orientation and integration of attorneys.
· Process bi-weekly payroll and ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
· Coordinate the staff performance evaluation process.
· Manage employee relations effort including employee engagement, recognition, counseling, discipline, and terminations in conjunction with the COO.
· Help resolve day-to-day employee relations matters.
· Responsible for the evaluation of organizational effectiveness and resource allocation.
· Ensure collection and submission of all personnel data records and performance/employment documentation.
· Other staff management functions as designated.
Facilities Management
· Manage administrative services including reception, mail, fax, supplies, and delivery services.
· Coordinate with landlord related to building issues, and communications.
· Provide oversight of inventory control of physical assets, including furniture, computer equipment, records, etc.
· Ensures a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel and visitors.
General Administration
· Assist with negotiating vendor contracts.
· Support client development activities and events.
· Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED
Required
· A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of administrative, supervisory/management experience; Preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
· Prior knowledge and experience dealing with Human Resource issues.
· Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels of firm’s structure.
· Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
· Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
· Highly self-motivated and directed.
· Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
Preferred
· PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
