SUMMARY

The Senior Manager of Advancement reports to the Vice President of Advancement and leads the day-to-day operations and staff of ICCF's Advancement department. In conjunction with the VP of Advancement , the Senior Manager prepares and carries out the Mission Advancement Plan (MAP). The Senior Manager coordinates fundraising, marketing, communications and volunteer support, and establishes clear priorities, accountability and follow-through. The Senior Manager works under the Vice President's direction while drawing on the Vice President's donor and community relationships, Leadership Team perspective and institutional knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Annually prepare the MAP in coordination with the Vice President of Advancement and for approval through ICCF's established leadership process. Align marketing, communications and solicitation with organizational strategy and funding needs. Establish measurable goals that focus on: increasing name recognition for the organization; diversifying types of givers and growing the donor base; donor retention and gift growth; enhancement of participation by churches.
  • Carry out the MAP through staff assignments, coordinated calendars and measurable goals. Monitor results, address gaps and report progress to the Vice President of Advancement, providing information needed for Leadership Team and organizational discussions.
  • Lead department operations, including work planning, staff coordination, deadlines and follow-through. Set priorities that reflect staff capacity, review grants and coordinate donor engagement, communications and volunteer activities.
  • Supervise direct reports through clear expectations, regular meetings, coaching and accountability, encouraging personal growth and team commitment toward fulfillment of the MAP.
  • Support with assistance from the Communication Specialist, Housing and Family Services and Real Estate Development and Management leaders in designing and implementing program marketing policies and procedures that promote ICCF's products and services to the persons and communities needing them.
  • Collaborate with designated operations and program leadership on public and private funding proposals. Coordinate program and advancement staff assignments, required program data, proposal preparation, reporting and follow-up.
  • In coordination with the communications team regularly evaluate ICCF's marketing collateral and corporate graphics package against marketing objectives. Ensure staff have appropriate communication materials and follow policies governing their use.
  • Coordinate along with the planning giving and communications team, planned giving outreach and follow-through with designated staff and partners, including the Barnabas Foundation, as applicable. Involve the Vice President of Advancement in selected donor conversations.
  • Through designated marketing and communications staff, coordinate media relations regarding program accomplishments, events, corporate changes and milestones.
  • Support the Vice President of Advancement in work with the Board of Directors Advancement Committee through meeting preparation, progress reports and follow-up that strengthen Board involvement in securing resources for ICCF.
  • Through responsible staff, ensure volunteer recruitment and supervision systems meet program needs, protect ICCF's interests and provide a fulfilling volunteer experience.
  • Develop assigned donor relationships and coordinate introductions, joint visits and handoffs with the Vice President of Advancement and, as appropriate, the President and CEO. Arrange materials, staff support, donor records and follow-up for the Vice President's outreach throughout ICCF's current service region and in potential growth areas, which may include Muskegon and the lakeshore.
  • Provide MAP, fundraising and operational updates to the Vice President of Advancement for Leadership Team discussions and other organizational reporting. The Senior Manager is not a member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for operational follow-through within the Advancement department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Manager reports to the Vice President of Advancement and directly supervises the Annual Fund/Advancement Manager and other designated Advancement employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing contributions; addressing performance concerns; and resolving complaints and problems. These duties are carried out in coordination with the Vice President of Advancement and Human Resources, with required approvals and in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fund development, marketing or a related field, including staff supervision and fundraising coordination. Other combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.
