Position Summary

Immersive Home Technologies is seeking a Senior Controller to lead accounting operations across the company, both top-down financial reporting and bottoms-up transactional accounting - spanning design, fabrication, and site construction of high-end, steel-framed modular homes for residential and commercial customers. This role owns the full accounting function - including general ledger, cost accounting, AP/AR, inventory, and financial reporting across all entities - and carries direct management responsibility for the accounting team, based at our Grand Rapids facility. The ideal candidate brings public company controllership or SEC reporting experience, along with a strong technical accounting background and proven leadership in a fast-paced, technology-driven manufacturing and construction environment where accuracy and timeliness directly impact production and delivery schedules.

This role reports to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process - including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting packages across all entities
• Lead cost accounting for both custom residential and commercial production - including standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation across design, fabrication, and site installation
• Manage and mentor the accounting team - including oversight of AP/AR, invoicing, and collections processes
• Maintain and reconcile inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods - including job-specific custom components
• Track production costs, material usage, labor efficiency, and scrap/waste variances
• Oversee cash flow tracking and bank reconciliations
• Lead coordination of external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
• Oversee integration between Moducore (our ERP) and QuickBooks
• Develop and track financial and operational KPIs
• Drive improvements to accounting processes and internal controls
• Partner with the CFO on financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ownership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Public company controllership experience - including SEC reporting (10-K/10-Q, SOX compliance) - strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience - including prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
• Manufacturing or construction accounting experience strongly preferred
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems in a manufacturing or production environment (e.g., NetSuite, Epicor, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar); training provided on Moducore
• QuickBooks expertise required
• Advanced Excel skills required

Skills and Competencies

• Strong technical accounting foundation with attention to detail
• Experience preparing audit-ready financials and supporting external audit or SEC review processes
• Proven leadership ability - able to manage, coach, and develop an accounting team
• Solid understanding of cost accounting in a production or plant environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet close deadlines
• Clear communicator who can work effectively across accounting, operations, and executive team
• Self-directed and able to operate with a high degree of autonomy

Work Environment

Onsite at our Grand Rapids, MI manufacturing facility, with regular interaction with the CFO, accounting team, plant management, construction team, and operations teams.
