About UPS & Our Culture

Distribution is the science of moving the right package to the right place at the right time — and at UPS, it is a science practiced at a scale most logistics operations never approach. Our Distribution Associates work inside regional distribution center facilities that serve as the critical geographic routing hubs between UPS's national air and ground networks and the local delivery centers that put packages on doorsteps every morning. If you are searching for distribution associate jobs near me that develop genuine supply chain expertise, pay Teamsters union wages with full benefits, and sit at the center of a national logistics network rather than a single market, the UPS distribution associate role is the broadest professional foundation available in our hourly associate lineup.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"Working as a Distribution Associate at UPS gave me a complete picture of how a national logistics network actually operates. I see packages come from 47 states and I route them toward 12 different regional zones in a single shift. The scale of the operation is genuinely impressive and the work requires understanding regional geography, carrier routing codes, and sort priority rules that go well beyond what a local package center associate ever needs to know. The Teamsters pay is strong, the benefits are outstanding, and the supply chain knowledge I have built here is the most marketable skill I have developed in any warehouse job." - Current Distribution Associate, Omaha, NE.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Distribution Associate, you process regional distribution volume inside a UPS hub facility — sorting, routing, and staging packages across multi-zone geographic destinations that feed delivery centers across an entire regional service territory rather than a single local market.

  • Multi-Zone Geographic Routing: Sort inbound packages across 8 to 16 distinct regional geographic destination zones — reading 5-digit ZIP code routing prefixes and carrier route codes to divert each package to the correct outbound zone lane with the speed and accuracy that a regional hub's departure window schedule demands without tolerance for misroutes that generate inter-hub transfer costs.
  • Regional Transit Priority Management: Identify and prioritize air-committed, time-definite, and healthcare shipments within the distribution volume — segregating priority packages from standard ground traffic and staging them in the correct priority outbound position that ensures they make the most time-efficient connection to their final delivery center without missing a guaranteed delivery commitment.
  • Hub-to-Hub Transfer Documentation: Record all hub-to-hub package transfers in the UPS ORION distribution management system — documenting transfer trailer numbers, destination hub IDs, and departure timestamps that create the data trail used to investigate any package that fails to arrive at its destination hub within the expected transit window.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Distribution Associates receive Teamsters union wages, full medical, dental, and vision benefits, pension accrual, paid personal days, and UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance. The regional network exposure built in a hub distribution role creates a direct career pathway into UPS transportation planning, network operations management, and supply chain analytics positions that are not accessible from standard local package center roles.
