Senior Accountant - Manufacturing & Construction
Senior Accountant — Manufacturing & Construction
Immersive Structural Technologies | Grand Rapids, MI | Onsite
Position Summary
Immersive Home Technologies designs, fabricates, and builds high-end, steel-framed modular homes for residential and commercial customers. We're looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to own core parts of the monthly close, job costing, and inventory accounting at our Grand Rapids facility.
You'll work closely with the Controller, plant management, and our construction team. The work is detailed and transactional: reconciliations, journal entries, job cost tracking, and inventory. It directly affects how we price, produce, and deliver homes. This role is a good fit for someone with manufacturing or construction accounting experience who wants more ownership at a growing company preparing to go public.
This role reports to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Own assigned parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Track job costs for each residential and commercial project through design, fabrication, and site installation, including budget vs. actual, change orders, and cost to complete
- Maintain the WIP schedule and support contract revenue recognition, including over/under billings and retainage
- Reconcile inventory across raw materials, WIP, and job-specific components, and track material usage, labor, and scrap
- Prepare progress billings and oversee AP and AR processing, collections, and vendor setup
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain daily cash reporting
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits and our outside CPA firm
- Keep data accurate between Moducore (our ERP) and QuickBooks
- Prepare monthly reports and analysis for the Controller and CFO
- Identify and help carry out improvements to accounting processes and controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close
- Manufacturing or construction accounting experience strongly preferred, including job costing, WIP, or inventory accounting
- Public accounting experience or CPA (or CPA candidate) a plus
- Experience with ERP systems in a production environment (NetSuite, Epicor, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar); training provided on Moducore
- QuickBooks experience preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation workbooks)
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and close discipline
- Able to trace a number back to its source and explain a variance
- Comfortable working with operations and construction teams to get the information you need
- Manages multiple priorities and meets close deadlines
- Self-directed, and asks questions early rather than late
Work Environment
Onsite at our Grand Rapids, MI manufacturing facility, working regularly with the Controller, CFO, plant management, construction team, and operations.
