General Manager – Grand Rapids

Location: Long Road Distillers Grand Rapids

Supervisor: Vice President of Operations

Compensation: $50,000.00 – $62,500.00 per year

The General Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Grand Rapids Tasting Room of Long Road Distillers. The GM is responsible for ensuring that all staff are exceeding LRD standards of customer service, the Grand Rapids location is operating within labor and cost of goods metrics and meeting or exceeding established KPI, all while fostering and maintaining a positive work environment that focuses on innovation and growth for the Long Road brand and its employees.

We are looking for a self-starter who will jump in and quickly amass an in-depth familiarity with Long Road’s spirits, market presence and one-of-a-kind cocktail and culinary programs. We are looking for a person who values and exemplifies effective communication, and is able to stay curious in their approach to learning Long Road processes and products.

Responsible for the first line of service at Long Road Grand Rapids, our General Manager must continuously be educating, motivating and innovating in order to continue to build the Long Road team, our brand, and our reputation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

• * Minimum 1 year cocktail bartending experience desired;
• Minimum 3 years customer service experience desired;
• Minimum 2 years management and leadership experience desired;
• Passionate about brand building;
• Track record of fostering a positive work environment with a culture of respect;
• Experience working with craft brands preferred
• Able to relate to all different types of people, both as customers and employees;
• Able to work long hours, primarily weekends and evenings;
• Serve Safe Manager or TIPS Manager training prior to start date (employer supported)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Maintain exceptional hospitality standards through training and execution at our Grand Rapids location;
• Day to day management of tasting room financials;
• Adherence to labor and COG budgets;
• Coordinate FOH scheduling needs;
• FOH employee hiring, training, and ongoing coaching;
• Maintain appropriate staffing pars throughout busy and less busy times;
• Weekly reporting and analysis of sales and labor numbers at weekly managers meeting;
• Schedule and lead monthly FOH staff meeting;
• Daily pre-shift with FOH staff and chef;
• Ensure staff have all assets needed to ensure successful communication during shift, ie: printed menus and feature sheets;
• Control costs of vendor and store bought supplies with the support of other administrative staff;
• Manage costs of goods;
• Manage FOH and bar prep ordering needs;
• Communicate cash/banking needs in a timely manner to owners;
• Create and coordinate systems for training, and implementation of new seasonal cocktails and food menus with bar prep coordinator and culinary team;
• Positively and effectively coach staff to deliver LRD standards of service;
• Work as floor supervisor and extra hands during peak service times;
• Monitor cleaning schedule for all FOH and outdoor areas;
• Handle customer complaints and praise;
• Manage event staffing and day of execution;
• Work with prep staff to create weekly prep schedule;
• Be part of cocktail development team
